To discover the most beautiful beaches in Lampedusa

Lampedusa is a small island located in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea and enriched with beautiful and amazing coastlines. It is one of Italy’s Pelagian Islands and it is located in the middle of the southern Mediterranean Sea. It is part of Sicily and one can be able to use a plane or ferry to get there. Lampedusa is also famous for its gentle azure waters, fine-grain yellow sand, and breathtaking scenery. It is an ideal place for tourists looking for the quiet sun, fun, and sea beauty. The coast is lined with many beaches but we are here to present you with five of the best. I propose to go discover the finest coasts that turn Lampedusa into paradise.

The Rabbit Beach or Spiaggia dei Conigli

Among the beaches, it is widely regarded as one of the most stunning beaches in the world; Rabbit Beach, or as it is called, Spiaggia dei Conigli is the pride of Lampedusa. Get its name from the wild rabbits freely roaming within the vicinity, this is perhaps one of the most untouched beaches in the country, with powdery sand, transparent water, and exquisite marine life. From sunbathing activities, swimming, and snorkeling, as well as nature-loving, Rabbit Beach is the perfect destination. Quiet and stunningly natural, it is a wonderfully atmospheric place anyone visiting Lampedusa should not miss. The Equator beach stretch is approximately 1 km walk from the entry point of the park.

Because of its small size and the fact that it has some areas designated as being at hydrogeological risk, access to Spiaggia dei Conigli is restricted by the number of persons allowed. There are some limitations:

  •  Visit the Spiaggia dei Conigli in the first shift of 8.30 am to 1.30 pm and the second shift of 2.30 pm to 7.30 pm, for a maximum of 550 people in one shift.
  • Access is fully free.
  • 350 places per shift can be booked online.
  • You are welcome to pre-arrange your visit from June 1st through August 6th; from July 1st it is possible to pre-arrange till October 15th.
  • The pricing is per individual, and any booking can only contain a maximum of two persons.
  • It is forbidden to smoke in the territory of the beach.
  • The operation of drones is prohibited in the Special Economic Zone.
  • Dogs are not allowed. They can cause damage to the fauna.
  • Fishing activities and the introduction of any type of weapon or fishing gear are not permitted.
  • Access by bicycle is not permitted.

Cala Pulcino

One of Lampedusa’s hidden gems, Cala Pulcino is a small beach located on the southeastern side of the island out of the tourist rush. This beach can only be accessed by using a boat or by a very steep climb of the steep incline that leads to it, but once there, visitors will find themselves in the presence of clean sand and clear green water. Overcoming boldly the crystal waters and being surrounded by beautiful cliffs and glistening fish, Cala Pulcino is one of those places that are perfect for snorkeling. This area, being untouched by mass tourism, allows the visitors to etherealize and simply admire the views of Lampedusa. Cala Pulcino is located a short distance from the famous Isola dei Conigli beach. There are two ways you can reach the Cala Pulcino. One is by boat and another is by arming yourself with comfortable trekking shoes. There is one other way by road. But for time-saving, my recommendation is to hire a boat from Lampedusa Port.

Spiaggia dei Gabbiani or Gulls’ Beach

Spiaggia dei Gabbiani is in Lozzolo in the Province of Vercelli within the Italian region of Piedmont. One of the most beautiful beaches of Lampedusa’s northern coast is Spiaggia dei Gabbiani or Gulls’ Beach, which has always been famous for its peace and quiet. A calm sandy beach, which can be compared to a beach of a southern resort with its white sand and knee-deep warm blue water, is perfect for families and those seeking relaxation. In addition to the exceptional and breathtaking scenic beauty that you can marvel at in Spiaggia dei Gabbiani, you’ll find that there are facilities that are provided to make the visitor comfortable. Removable: Tourists and sunbathers can take beach umbrella rentals to avoid exposure to the scorching sun during the day, particularly in the middle of the day, and other accessories such as beach lounge chairs among others. The nearby cafes and restaurants serve exquisite seafood dishes & thirst-quenching beverages to give the Caribbean feel and taste. The guests can get a tan in the sun, watch the sea, take a walk on the coastline, or simply relax in the beautiful and warm nature. Thus, Spiaggia dei Gabbiani guarantees an unforgettable experience to everyone who will be able to reach the coast of the remarkable island.

Cala Croce

Located between the cliffs of the sea and a calm sea, Cala Croce is a small corner of Eden that remains untouched. This is a fairly untouched and rather remote strip of sand that can only be reached through a rather picturesque trail that passes along the rocky coastal cliffs. Surrounded by high cliffs and overlooking the sea, Cala Croce is a perfect place for snorkeling and easy hikes along the coast. There are opportunities to dive and explore the underwater caves, go for a swim in the water or just enjoy simply sunbathing on the sand. Lying in the untouched realm of Cala Croce, the hotel offers the guests to discover the next level of embracing nature.

Cala Croce is also an archaeological site where the remains of ancient inhabitants of the region can still be seen. Remains of Roman villas and Byzantium castle bring a series of cultural tour interests to the island alongside the natural beauty.

Cala Madonna

Located on the extreme eastern coast of Sicily, Cala Madonna is a fascinating little cove with extraordinary cliffs and a clear blue sea. So-called after the statue of the Madonna and Child, which formerly stood above the cove, this beautiful and quiet beach offers breathtaking views of the sea and cliffs. The beach of Cala Madonna has rather coarse sand of golden color and the sea, which is azure and has a depth of no more than two meters, is good for swimming and snorkeling. The people can enjoy the unbelievable view of the Mediterranean Sea and cliffs, go trekking around, or have a rest on the territory.

Therefore, Lampedusa can be proud of its interesting and various beaches, among which there are closed and separately located coves and bays, clean and beautiful coastlines, and a blue sea. Regardless of whether you are an adrenaline junky, a beach bunny, or a “wind-surfing virgin” Lampedusa provides the ideal travel destination for you. Therefore, take your towel and your sunblock, put on your flippers and mask, and set off to explore the majesty of Lampedusa’s five finest beaches.
